Biography

History

Avis Justin — called Samuel Avis in a Justin Boots company interview — was the third of H. J. Justin's sons, along with John and Earl, to take over H. J. Justin and Sons when their father's health began failing in 1916. The brothers moved the growing company to Fort Worth in 1925.

A Justin Boots archives interview with company historian Nancie Thomas says that in the Fort Worth building, Avis gave square-dance lessons and called the dances. No birth year, death year, or bench specialty for him has been found. His brother Earl Justin is filed separately.
