Jorge Lucero
Jorge Lucero was born in Juárez, Mexico, and moved to Amarillo as a young man, where he spent seven years learning bootmaking at a local shop before opening his own backyard shop. History
Jorge Lucero runs Lucero's Cowboy Boot Repair in Amarillo, Texas. According to Brick & Elm (31 October 2025), he was born in Juárez, Mexico, to a working-class family, worked in factories as a teenager, married at 18, and moved to the United States, settling first in Artesia, New Mexico, for six months before the family relocated to Amarillo.
In Amarillo he found work at a boot shop and spent seven years learning the trade before opening his own backyard shop near Forest Hill Elementary, while also working as a mechanic. His repair work grew into custom bootmaking, and other local bootmakers now hire him for repair work when they lack the capacity themselves. The shop is on North Apache Street in Amarillo.
