History

Bohne’s Boot Shop was established by Henry Bohne, an immigrant from Germany, and stayed open for more than 100 years in Cuero, Texas, a ranching and farming community. His son Floyd Bohne later ran the business.

Bootmaker Primitivo “Primo” Orozco first worked for the shop in 1953 while living in nearby Kenedy, and began a long career there around 1954. The Handbook of Texas recalls that Floyd Bohne vouched for Orozco when immigration authorities came to the shop, and that the Orozcos needed his recommendation to rent a house. Bohne sold the business in 1973.
