History

Calzados Herce is a boot factory in Valverde del Camino, Spain. Its tejanas (western boots) and camperos are the lines it markets as artesanal, made in Valverde del Camino.

The trade name Herce comes from Hermanos Cejudo, a shoemaking business the Cejudo family traces to 1950, when José Cejudo Cera's grandfather opened a small workshop in the town. His father ran the firm until his death in 1985, when José took over; in the 1990s he added campero boots and hunting boots to the line. As of a 2017 profile, the Herce workshop employed eleven people.

The same profile credits José Parreño Lineros with inventing the Valverde boto in the 1940s, and associates Herce's boots with wearers including Kate Middleton.
