Why collectors care

Cuadra is one of the most visible Mexican exotic fashion labels on US shelves and Instagram-era Western wardrobes. Secondary-market pairs are common; collectors need geography (León production culture), founding chronology, and a way to separate Cuadra western boots from Franco Cuadra dress lines and any Corral-labeled export siblings without collapsing them into “generic León exotic.”

Origin and people credits

Brand “Our Story” (cuadrashop / cuadra.com.mx) and Mexican press (Radio Fórmula; Periódico AM, 2026 León profile) support:

• Agustín Cuadra — father; clothing commerce and an admiration for exotic skins.
• Pre-boot accessories shop FECIHE — brothers making exotic belts (loggerhead/caguama, elephant, lizard, python, eel cited in brand English copy).
• 28 June 1991, León — first CUADRA exotic boots + belts/wallets; brothers Héctor, Fernando, Francisco. AM.com.mx describes earlier exotic-skin distribution and maquila boots before the brand formalized.
• 1993 — export to the United States, then Europe and elsewhere (brand timeline).
• 1995 — first CUADRA store in León; later Mexico City; La Potosina store as tribute to Agustín.
• Later diversification: Cuadratel service (about 1998); Franco Cuadra dress/contemporary line; jackets/jeans/shirts; US stores Chicago (15 Nov 2012), Las Vegas Palazzo (20 Jul 2013); exporter awards cited for 2014.
