Biography
History
Edwin Martin was a bootmaker in Las Animas, Colorado, who ran E.P. Martin Boots and trained Carson Leverett. Brick & Elm (31 October 2025) reports that bootmaker Harry Beck, with limited room to take on a shadow himself, sent Leverett to Martin; Leverett trained at E.P. Martin Boots for six months, commuting from Abilene on weekends, around the time of their 2011 introduction.
The article calls him “the late Martin” and says he had worked at Ingerton Boot and Saddle on Polk Street in Amarillo in the 1940s, though it does not specify whether that earlier work was boots, saddles, or both — Leverett says he still owns an Ingerton saddle. No birth year or death year survives for Martin.
