• 1922 catalog styles. Lookup keys are the printed style numbers from Catalog No. 22. An in-boot stamp is not attested on those plates.
• Plate language. Surviving 1922 descriptions include wax-veal vamps, stiffened kid uppers, oak soles, and named last shapes. Read the plate for the specific number.
• Later catalogs. NCWHM holds Cowboy Catalog No. 39 (1939), which also advertised cowboy boots. A 1922 number is not assumed to have survived unchanged.
• Today’s store. Boots on the current floor are goods the house carries. Caption period from the pair and any catalog plate, not from the living Pendleton address alone.
