James Morado ran Custom Boots By Morado in Houston, Texas, a family shop profiled in Joe Nick Patoski's June 2002 Texas Monthly list of Texas bootmakers. James Morado and his son, also named James, had by then been making both fancy and basic western boots for twenty years.

Former Houston mayor Bob Lanier was named among the shop's clients, along with Houstonians ordering boots for the Houston Rodeo. Pairs started around $595 and took six to eight months.
