History
Jose Lucas Sanchez was the son of El Paso bootmaker Yldefonso Sanchez. Texas House Resolution 1427 (2015) says that during the 1940s and 1950s, Jose Lucas and his wife, Cuca Sanchez, expanded the family business into western wear, grew it to six locations, and pioneered “repair while you wait” service.
His son’s own company page says Jose Luis Sanchez worked as a youngster in his father’s shoe-repair and bootmaking shop. No birth year, death year, street address, or style number survives for Jose Lucas Sanchez himself.
