Joseph Lucchese · History
History
Joseph Lucchese was, with his brother Salvatore “Sam” Lucchese, a founder of the Lucchese boot shop in San Antonio. The company’s own timeline says Salvatore immigrated in 1882, arriving at Galveston by ship from Palermo with his brother Joseph, and that in 1883 the two brothers from Sicily opened a small boot shop near Fort Sam Houston, making boots for cavalry soldiers.
Wikipedia’s company entry attributes the 1883 founding to Salvatore and “his brothers” without naming Joseph specifically. Cosimo Lucchese is the next generation of the family. No later biography, death date, or style number survives for Joseph.
