Mike Allred has run Mike Allred's Custom Handmade Boots, a one-man shop in Whitesboro, Texas, since 1976. Texas Monthly's June 2002 roundup of bootmakers listed prices starting at $700 with an eighteen-month turnaround, and described the shop's specialty simply as solid boots. Customers were described as cowboys and bartenders.
