Miron Crosby · History
History
Miron Crosby is a Dallas, Texas western fashion boot house founded by sisters Lizzie Means Duplantis and Sarah Means, members of a fifth-generation ranch family from near Marfa and Valentine, Texas (sources differ on which town to credit — Forbes and TCU Magazine say Marfa, Garden & Gun says Valentine). The name combines "Miron," a play on their great-grandfather Marion Otis Means, and "Crosby," taken from a ranch pasture and a SoHo street.
The brand opened its first studio, a 490-square-foot space in Dallas's Highland Park Village, on 20 June 2017, according to PR Newswire. The boots are hand-lasted in Texas by Rios of Mercedes, described in that release as cousins of the Means sisters; the first collection ran 15 designs across 169 pairs, and Garden & Gun reports that an uncle and cousins own the Rios workshop.
Texas Monthly (December 2019) covered the Highland Park Village shop's inlay and appliqué work and a Prabal Gurung collaboration that fall. The company later opened studios in Aspen (December 2021) and Houston's Lamar-River Oaks area (November 2023); TCU Magazine reports more than 30 staff by 2024, and Forbes (21 October 2024) counts three studios, in Dallas, Houston, and Aspen.
