Biography
History
Natalie Teichert is an apprentice bootmaker, and wife, in Seth Teichert’s shop in Mackay, Idaho. Boise State Public Radio (27 December 2018) reports she was awarded an apprenticeship through the Idaho Commission on the Arts’ Folk and Traditional Arts Program, and that Seth was teaching her to measure a foot.
She had a knack for designing patterns and was still learning structural work, such as nailing wooden pegs, while sewing the piping on the first pair she made for herself — a top in a square-quilt pattern of pinks and purples, after she set aside a planned bluebird inlay. Seth said the two build patterns together and that she finishes dyes and polish. Morgan Buckert is named elsewhere as an earlier apprentice in Seth’s shop, though this piece doesn’t mention her. No street, age, or style number survives.
