Biography
History
Seth Teichert is a custom bootmaker who works out of the garage of his ranch house near Mackay, Idaho. Boise State Public Radio's 2018 profile describes him building pull-on cowboy boots with tall tops and a slung-back heel — what he calls ‘kind of the underslung look’ — with a small heel cap on most pairs.
An Idaho Commission on the Arts report says he apprenticed in 2004 with Steve and Bev Gilger of Dubois Leather and Shoe to learn basic lace-up construction, took a class with Kurt Klemmer for pull-on bootmaking, and studied cowboy-boot construction with Carl Chappell of St. Jo, Texas (the report spells the name ‘Carl Chappel’). By the time of that report he had built about 70 pairs in his spare time while working as a ranch manager.
Morgan Buckert names him as her mentor in Mackay; his wife, Natalie Teichert, works as his apprentice.
