Why collectors care

Vintage Olsen-Stelzer is an inlay atlas plus Henrietta-era stamps. Modern pairs are Dallas-side custom / Collector Edition revivals. The Stelzer–Enid–Justin triangle explains why these boots get cross-filed next to Nocona histories — genealogy, not Justin boots.

Brand and trade chronologies date 1900 (Carl Olsen shop narrative) and 1934 (Julius Stelzer partnership).

Origin spine

• Carl Olsen — Norwegian immigrant shoemaker; brand history places him at H.J. Justin in Nocona, then his own shop in Henrietta. Inlay hallmark.
• 1934 — Julius Stelzer joins (ex-Justin production manager; divorced Enid Justin) to form Olsen-Stelzer Boot and Saddlery. Stelzer scales Olsen designs to production.
• By ~1939, sons Norman (business) and Harry (design); brand claim of about 500 pairs/week — order-of-magnitude, not a QC metric.
• Celebrity wear claims (Truman, Eisenhower, Wayne, Rogers Eagle, Autry 1942 Bluebird / Autry Museum claim) come from brand history; photograph a marked pair when it matters.
• 1980s decline → closed ~1988 → name preserved ~1990–91 (Tom Cartlidge) → revival ~2011–12 (Cartlidge + Carl Winfrey) → GG&E Boots, LLC acquisition Aug 2018 (CEO Thomas Gleason); Cartlidge stays as boot expert.
