Why collectors care

Osuna on a southwestern custom pair is a Tucson backyard bench, not a Texas factory. Collectors need the family shop and a way to keep it beside Paul Bond in the Arizona custom cluster.

Taxonomy here is Bootmaker. Arizona Sonoran News describes Esteban Osuna working with his wife and her brothers for twenty-five years at the time of that feature.

Biography

Arizona Sonoran News records a shop in the backyard of a south Tucson home just off Interstate 19 toward Nogales, with heavy-duty machines in a shed. Esteban traces the customer’s foot to build a mold, then the customer chooses heel, toe, leather, and height. Skins named in that piece include South African ostrich, Spanish bull hide, and Australian kangaroo, with other materials imported from Mexico. Period prices started at $550 and ran into the thousands. The shop survived by word of mouth.

The same article places Osuna beside other Arizona custom names, including Paul Bond in Nogales. Esteban’s later fashion-design site says he grew up working exotic leathers in his father’s boot shop, finished high school after leaving home, and received a fashion-design bachelor’s degree from the Art Institute of Tucson in October 2014. That fashion line is a later personal project, not a second boot factory.
