Sonny Dawkins was the master bootmaker at Dalhart Custom Boots in Dalhart, Texas, in XIT Ranch country, and was profiled in Joe Nick Patoski's June 2002 Texas Monthly list of Texas bootmakers. His specialty was genuine cowboy boots, with pairs starting around $750 and taking three to six months, made mainly for local clients.
