Stephanie Ferguson · History
History
Stephanie Ferguson was a custom bootmaker in Millsap, Texas. Joe Nick Patoski’s June 2002 Texas Monthly list describes her as an Ohio native and, at the time, the only woman bootmaker in Texas working alone; she had studied under Jack Reed in Burnet. (By that date, other women, including Deana McGuffin and Lisa Sorrell, were already working as bootmakers elsewhere in the state.)
Her specialties included flamboyant color and overlays — three-dimensional hummingbirds, coconuts, flamingos, parrots, and morning glories — with prices starting at $850 and a turnaround of six to eight months. David Allan Coe is named as a client.
