• HP style numbers. Retailer listings use an HP prefix, for example HP1070, HP1082, HP1838 and HP6016, and HPW numbers for work boots.
• Sub-lines. The official site sorts styles into Horse Power, HP Top Hand Collection, HP Work and HP Kids.
• Country of origin. Official history: built in Guanajuato, Mexico. Look for a Mexico mark, not the Texas handmade language used on Anderson Bean.
• Not Anderson Bean mainline. Horse Power was designed after Anderson Bean styles. Read the stamped brand name and the HP prefix rather than going by looks.
• Styling tells. The official About page names woven leather and patchwork vamps as Horse Power signatures.
