Hyer Boot Company · Identification
Construction / ID tells
- Historic offering. Kansapedia describes a wide range of styles, heel heights, leathers, and decorations, from simple stitching to diamond insets and gold and silver inlays.
- Mail-order charts. A measurement flyer is industry context, not proof that every surviving pair was chart-ordered.
- Celebrity lists. Kansapedia names Buffalo Bill Cody, Clark Gable, Will Rogers, and Dwight Eisenhower among customers. A famous name does not authenticate an unlabeled pair.
- Factory end date. Kansas production ends with the 1977 sale and the later El Paso equipment move. A modern Mercedes Olathe pair is not a Hyer factory boot.
- 2020s HYER relaunch. A separate consumer line uses the historic name. Read the pair’s marks and purchase date before treating it as the Olathe factory.
Maker-specific markings guidance has not been documented yet. Preserve the complete stamp and compare it against dated sources.
