← James Leddy Boots (Abilene) profile
James Leddy Boots (Abilene) · Identification
Construction / ID tells
- Nephew branch, not brother. James is the nephew of Martin Luther Leddy. The Abilene shop is not the San Angelo / Fort Worth company.
- Texas Monthly 2002 specialties. Flowery tops, old-fashioned crimped vamps, zipper tops, and sharp pointed toes are supporting evidence, not sole identification.
- Period vs successor. Caption James Leddy period (before 2003) separately from the Abilene shop under Dos Santos (from 2008) and from M.L. Leddy.
- Order books. Receipts and hard-bound books remain strong provenance. Celebrity names in those books are reputation, not pair certificates. Texas Monthly 2002 names Buck Owens, George Jones, Johnny Bush, and Rep. Charles Stenholm.
- No factory SKU bible. James-period work was commission by measurement and design. The current shop prints one named offering, Al’s Safari Walking Boot.
