Why collectors care

Joe Hall / Hall Boot Co. is an El Paso house that advertised named cowboy-boot models in the 1960s and, by 2002, continued as Austin-Hall Boot Company. Collectors need the Hall name kept separate from Champion Boot Co. Double Eagle and from other El Paso factories.

This page is a manufacturing company card. The 1964 advertisement sold named styles at a printed price. Texas Monthly later described a three-generation made-to-measure shop. Those are different eras of the same house name.

Company history

An April 1964 Hall Boot Co. advertisement, printed for Joe Hall Boots and giving P.O. Box 17246, El Paso, names Western Marshal (Nos. 70, 71, and 72) and Flying Eagle (No. 58). The plate describes wood-pegged, brass-nailed, steel-shanked, handmade, hand-lasted, leather-lined, and imported construction.

Texas Monthly (June 2002) listed Austin-Hall Boot Company at 230 Chelsea Street and stated that the shop, “originally named the Joe Hall Boot Company, has been making boots for three generations.” Specialties in that profile were straightforward basic designs, flashy work on request, and made-to-measure red flame jobs. Period benchmarks started about $200, with a fourteen-to-sixteen-week turnaround. Named clients in that article include Dwight Yoakam, WWF wrestlers, and NASA astronauts. Those names are reputation, not pair certificates.
