Olathe Boot Company · History

Why collectors care

The Library already documents C.H. Hyer as the founding artisan and Hyer Boot Company as the historic Kansas factory. Rios of Mercedes and Anderson Bean are the living Mercedes handmade companions. This page answers when marketed “Olathe” became a later line, and how a Kansas name is now hand-lasted beside Rios in South Texas.

“Olathe” on a modern pair is not the same corporate entity as the historic Hyer factory in Olathe, Kansas. Heritage copy still claims craft continuity to 1875. Fence that claim against the factory sale of 1977 and against the separate 2020s consumer HYER relaunch.
