The available sources do not identify every craftsperson or production partner.
Construction / ID tells
- Flagship labor. Company and Valley Business Report positioning treats Rios as the highest handmade-hour line, with Anderson Bean and Olathe as faster or fewer-option companions and Horse Power / Macie Bean as Guanajuato builds.
- Channeled welt / pegged arch. Shared family craft language with Anderson Bean. Separate the lines by the stamped name and style number, not by welt alone.
- Geography stamp. Photograph country-of-origin and “Handmade” language to separate Mercedes work from Mexico sibling lines.
- Aesthetic soft tell. Rios shafts are often described as more classic or refined than Anderson Bean’s louder wardrobe. That look is not unique by itself.
- Throughput context. Valley Business Report has described about 130 employees on the Mercedes floor. The Texas Bucket List (2023) quotes Ryan Vaughan at about 15 or 20 pairs a day. An earlier Valley Business Report piece quotes Trainor Evans at about $80 labor in a Rios boot versus about $40 on Anderson Bean, with number-one hides graded to Rios and number-twos to Anderson Bean. Scale is operational context, not a dating tool.
- Sibling check. Always read the stamp for Rios versus Anderson Bean versus Olathe versus Macie Bean or Horse Power.

Rios of Mercedes: looking up a number
Separate the sizing code from style, production, and order numbers. Keep any retailer-specific markings. The maker’s FAQ directs customers to give the reference number to a retailer for Boot Gallery orders. Historical pair identification may need the maker’s help.

Sizing, reference numbers, and source material
A collector sizing example reads 4950 as 9½ D. Another stamp discussion separates a work/style number from the numeric sizing line. Do not use a letter in the work number as the width.
