History

Brown's Boot and Saddle Shop was a Lubbock, Texas boot shop owned by E. E. Brown. The Handbook of Texas entry on bootmaker Willie Lusk Jr. says E. E. Brown's brother, N. A. Brown, sold his own San Angelo boot business in 1934 and urged E. E. Brown to hire Lusk to work at the Lubbock shop. Willie Lusk Jr. rose to foreman there by the early 1940s.

When Brown sold the shop in 1946, a customer financed Lusk's move into his own business. E. E. Brown is named only as the shop's owner; no source documents him lasting boots himself.

The earlier shop where Lusk learned the trade, N. A. Brown's Boot Shop in San Angelo, is a separate business where Frank Urban taught him, and should not be confused with the Lubbock shop.
