Taxonomy (historic house ≠ Olathe ≠ modern HYER)

• Charles H. Hyer on this page is the founding artisan who taught at the Kansas School for the Deaf and opened the Olathe shop with brother Ed.
• Hyer Boot Company carries factory growth, the 1977 sale to Ben Miller of El Paso, and the later name afterlife.
• Olathe Boot Company is a later line that hired former workers and is now handmade in Mercedes — not the same corporation.
• Modern HYER (2023 relaunch) is a separate consumer line. A 2024 “HYER” retail pair is not a 1910 Hyer.
