Rocketbuster · Identification

Construction / ID tells

• Art-boot method: Hand-tooling, inlay, hand-paint / stain on shafts; one-of-a-kind design bias (“don’t want to make the same thing twice” — Christi in Texas Monthly).
• Vintage 40s revival: Color and pattern language vs plain brown production boots — soft stylistic tell, easily imitated.
• Marks / paperwork: Shop labels, order tickets, dated invoices, documented shop photos of the pair — authorship beats flash.
• Throughput: About 400 pairs/year; long waits — scarcity context, not a stamp.
• Landmark ≠ dating: Guinness World’s Largest Cowboy Boots (size 328-D, commonly cited ~1999, nearly five feet / ~100 lb class claims in Visit El Paso / company lore) sit at the door. Cultural landmark for the company, irrelevant to dating a wearable pair.
• Celebrity client wall (Taylor Swift, Ethan Hawke, and others in Texas Monthly) documents customers, but cannot authenticate an unlabeled pair.
• El Paso handmade cluster: Disambiguate from Stallion, Tres Outlaws, J.B. Hill, Black Jack — stamps first.
• Not a tell: “Wild inlays” alone.

Documentation limits

• Legal name of the pre-1989 German founder / exact incorporation — company lore only in the sources cited here.
• How much Marty hand vs shop craftsmen vs Nevena design credit on 1990s pairs.
• Guinness certification year/details (commonly cited 1999; confirm the certificate before a hard claim).
• Stamp atlas thin publicly — prioritize marked interiors.
